U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Jared M. Hoversten, oncoming, Marine Corps Forces Command (MARFORCOM), Marine Corps Forces Northern Command (MARFOR NORTHCOM), Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic (FMFLANT), Headquarters and Service Battalion (HQSVCBN) Sergeant Major, receives the non-commissioned officer (NCO) sword from Col. Gabrielle M. Hermes, Commanding Officer of MARFORCOM, MARFOR NORTHCOM, FMFLANT, HQSVCBN during the relief and appointment ceremony at the Hopkins Hall Gymnasium, Norfolk, Virginia, Jan. 24, 2022. As Col. Hermes presented the NCO sword to Sgt. Maj. Hoversten was appointed MARFORCOM, MARFOR NORTHCOM, FMFLANT, HQSVCBN Sergeant Major. The duties of Sergeant Major of HQSVCBN is to serve as the battalion commander's senior enlisted adviser, handle matters of discipline and morale among the enlisted Marines.
