An aerial photograph of a prominent rocky hill or volcanic promontory rising from a narrow isthmus connected to a larger landmass. The hill features steep rocky cliffs with green vegetation on its upper slopes, surrounded by dark volcanic sand beaches and rocky shoreline with breaking waves. The landscape is consistent with a volcanic island environment, with flat low-lying terrain extending behind the hill.

Formerly referred to as Iwo Jima, Japan returned to calling it by its pre-war name in 2007. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, as well as the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
