U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Shelumiel Gondola, an Indianapolis native and maintainer with the 2nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 2nd Bomb Wing stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, notes a community member’s information as he assists them with registration at the state-led, federally-supported Community Vaccination Center at Ford Field in Detroit, April 28, 2021. Gondola is part of a group of Airmen assigned to 1st Detachment, 64th Air Expeditionary Group that are assisting with the vaccination efforts. Gondola's main responsibility is supporting the local community members by ensuring an expedient registration period. Gondola said, “I like helping the community here, they are very nice and I like it.” Gondola is ready to provide a helping hand to the community of Detroit. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
