U.S. Army Aviation Battalion-Japan conducts Flight Deck Landing Practice in preparation for bilateral and joint deck landing operations in the Ryukyu southwest island archipelago chain Oct. 27, during exercise Orient Shield 21-1. This type of live training helps USAAB-J learn and familiarize themselves with the knowledge and skills it takes to simulate safely landing on a variety of surfaces unique to the maritime domain. Orient Shield 21-1 is the largest U.S. Army field training exercise in Japan that tests and refines multi-domain operations. (U.S. Army photos by Maj. Elias M. Chelala)
