U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Tiffany Hughes, 44th Aircraft Maintenance Unit crew chief, collects sand from the black volcanic beaches of Iwo To, Japan, formerly known as Iwo Jima, during a tour of the island July 26, 2012. Because the island remains off-limits to most civilian personnel due to dangers still hidden on the battle site, the trip has become a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for anyone given the opportunity.
