U.S. Air Force airmen from the 18th Maintenance Group march along a street in Iwo To, Japan, formerly known as Iwo Jima, as part of a tour led by the 18th Wing History Office July 26, 2012. Though the infamous battle site has changed its name to Iwo To since World War II, the island has shown little to no other changes since the invasion more than 67 years ago. To this day the scars of war have been preserved in untouched, destroyed pill boxes and rusted weapons still lying around – some still dangerous – as well as monuments dedicated to the fallen heroes of both countries.
