The image is taken from the bridge wing of a naval vessel, looking out at a warship bearing hull number 117 underway on open ocean. The distant vessel appears to be a Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) destroyer, identifiable by its hull number and superstructure design. The foreground shows bridge wing equipment including a large binocular/optical device, a command chair, intercom speaker, and warning placard.
