U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Riley L. Stewart inspects a PhantomIRxr PAS-28 extended range thermal binocular within the optics maintenance structure of a simulated forward operating base during a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 26, 2020. The MCCRE is a formal unit evaluation conducted by qualified Marines to ensure standardization and combat readiness in preparation for operational deployments. Active duty deployable units conduct MCCRE’s every two years to assist the unit commander in identifying unit strengths and weaknesses.
