A yellow Komatsu tracked excavator is actively digging in a waterlogged, muddy area surrounded by dry reeds and bare deciduous trees, indicating late autumn or early winter conditions. A second yellow tracked machine, appearing to be a dumper or carrier, is positioned behind and to the right, loaded with excavated material. The scene suggests wetland excavation, drainage work, or land reclamation activity.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District contractors excavate the Stanford Run stream channel at the Stanford Run ecosystem restoration project at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Summit County, Ohio, Dec. 16, 2019.

Restoring Stanford Run to its historic alignment should allow natural processes to take over and supports CVNP’s mission to preserve and protect the natural, scenic and historic values of the park. This is the largest habitat restoration project completed so far at CVNP.
