Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson speaks during the Marine Week Cleveland mural unveiling ceremony at the corner of East 55th Street and Carnegie Road in Cleveland, June 15, 2012. For the past week, six Marines from various bases around the Corps worked on the 8-by-48 foot mural depicting community, country and Corps as part of Marine Week Cleveland. Staff Sgt. Randy L. Kirby, art director, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., and Hanover, Va., native, designed the mural then assimilated a team of Marines to support the process. Sgt. Maj. of the Marine Corps Micheal P. Barrett and Brig. Gen. Joseph L. Osterman, commanding general, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, were both in attendance at the unveiling ceremony. More than 750 Marines will be in Cleveland until June 17 displaying Marine aircraft, vehicles and equipment, as well as interacting and sharing with the public the values and character of the Marine Corps. One of the culminating events will be a Marine Air Ground Task Force demonstration, which showcases Marines' ability to assault from ship-to-shore via ground and air, June 16-17, at Burke Lakefront Airport.
