FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii (Jan. 21, 2020) -- Pacific Ocean Division (POD) Commanding General, Brig. Gen. Thomas Tickner (left), presents an official gift from Japan Director General for Facilities and Installations, Minister’s Secretariat, Kenji Takagi (right). The gift is a symbol of friendship and the U.S.-Japan alliance. The official gift exchange proceeded a roundtable discussion regarding continued engineering partnership opportunities, proposed program improvements and solutions to shared challenges. Leaders from Japan Engineer District (JED) also attended. JED conducts technical exchanges with the Japan Ministry of Defense to enhance existing bilateral relationships and to improve engineering support to U.S. and Japanese governments in execution of respective missions. This collaboration is part of a longstanding agreement between the two countries and enhances peace and security in the region.
