JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Washington- U.S. Army Special Forces Soldiers with 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) prepare to jump from a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter into American Lake on Joint Base Lewis-McChord during Menton Week, Dec. 10. The one kilometer swim is only a small part of the two-day competition between 1st SFG (A) Soldiers and their partnered allies who attended the commemorative week. Menton Week is an annual week-long remembrance of the deactivation of the First Special Service Force during World War II. The FSSF is considered a predecessor to modern U.S. Army Special Forces.
