JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Washington- U.S. Army Special Forces Soldiers with 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) assist each other with removing their wetsuits after swimming one kilometer across American Lake during Menton Week at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Dec. 10. The one kilometer swim is only a small part of the two-day competition between 1st SFG (A) Soldiers and their partnered allies who attended the commemorative week. Menton Week is an annual week-long remembrance of the deactivation of the First Special Service Force during World War II. The FSSF is considered a predecessor to modern U.S. Army Special Forces.
