Recruits with Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, prepare to conduct a 10-second gear strip while submerged during the Water Survival Basic Qualification course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Oct. 8. This portion of swim qual helps train recruits to strip heavy gear that may inhibit their ability to float while in deep water . Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Dec. 6.
