Recruits with Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, carry their packs after finishing the 25-meter swim during the Water Survival Basic Qualification at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Oct. 8. Although the majority of recruit training is focused on land-based training, combat water survival training is just as critical to learn. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Dec. 6.
