John Kendall, grand-nephew of Coast Guard Cutter Tampa World War I quartermaster Alexander Saldarini, hold photos of his grand-uncle from World War I after a Purple Heart Medal presentation ceremony Sept. 26, 2019 held at Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet. The medal was posthumously awarded to Saldarini by the Coast Guard more than 100 years after the cutter was sunk in Bristol Channel during World War I by a German U-boat.
