The Purple Heart Medal posthumously awarded to Alexander Saldarini, acting quartermaster aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Tampa during World War I, sits in its container during a presentation ceremony Sept. 26, 2019 held at Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet where the medal was presented to John Kendall, great-nephew of Saldarini. The Coast Guard Cutter Tampa was sunk by a German U-boat Sept. 26, 2019 in Bristol Channel during World War I, while the cutter was conducting a escort of a convoy.
