190320-N-RU084-1001 OXNARD, Calif. (Mar. 20, 2019) – U.S. Navy Steelworker 2nd Class Gabriella Gonzalez, from Lompoc, California, assigned to Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 303, welds brackets to an expeditionary quay wall patch (Curley patch) during a proof of concept test aboard Naval Base Ventura County in support of Pacific Blitz 2019 (PacBlitz19). The Curley patch technique provides expedient repair to piers and wharfs enabling military forces to continue to utilize the port to provide logistical support to the operating forces. PacBlitz19 provides realistic, relevant training necessary for effective global crisis response and provides reassurance to U.S. regional partners and allies of enduring commitment to regional stability.
