GEORGETOWN, Texas – (March 2, 2019) More than 44 high school, middle school, and elementary school teams to include local Boys Scout Troop 405 competed in the Georgetown SeaPerch Regional Competition held at the Georgetown Recreation Center. Advancing to the 2019 SeaPerch Challenge to be held on the campus of the University of Maryland in June were Team Axolotls of Georgetown High School, Team Deep SeaPerch of Richarte High School, and Team Underwater Odyssey of SFA Middle School in Bryan. The competition consisted of four evolutions: grading of teams’ engineer notebooks, the new mission, search and rescue challenge course, speed obstacle course, and interviews. Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio annually supports the competitions with divers and judges. Recruiters assigned to Navy Recruiting Stations Georgetown and Round Rock were present to spread Navy Awareness.
