Representing Brooklyn, New York, Spc. Staphane Beauvais, assigned to 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery, was selected to compete at the Joint Culinary Arts Training Exercise at Fort Lee, Virginia, in early March. She loves cooking and knows that it’s what she always wants to do. She wants to excel throughout the Army ranks as a culinary specialist and later instruct. She exerts confidence about her cooking, calling her barbecued chicken a famous dish- because she says so. A competition, such as this one where she gets to compete at a department of defense level and with people from other countries, has always been her goal and she’s just checking off the boxes as she moves along. She knows how important her job is because “when Soldiers have a long or bad day, a good meal will lift them up.”
