A group of people stand in a wet parking lot during rainy weather, holding handmade welcome home signs for returning military or service members. Several signs reference specific names including 'Greg' and 'Gregoire,' and one banner in the background reads 'Come Back Foreign My Sternbo...' Blue canopy tents are set up nearby, suggesting an organized homecoming event.

Friends and family members of Coast Guard Cutter Munro crewmembers await the cutter’s return home to Coast Guard Island in Alameda, Calif., following the cutter’s 105-day, 17,000-nautical mile, multi-mission deployment to the Western Pacific Ocean, Dec. 24, 2018. As Department of Homeland Security’s sole armed service, the Coast Guard’s unique authorities, capabilities, missions, and partnerships enable the service to operate in the Indo-Pacific and conduct critical missions such as Munro’s deployment to the region thwarting illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing practices in the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission area.
