Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Rafael Hernandez, a explosive ordnance technician, conducts a metal detector sweep as Anthropologist Hedy Justus, with the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command, excavates a 2x4 meter grid unit in the Savannakhet province, Lao People's Democratic Republic. Hernandez and Justus were aiding with the recovery efforts of service members missing from the Vietnam War. The mission of JPAC is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of all Americans missing as a result of our nation's past conflicts.
