A formal military ceremony is taking place under white event tents, likely outdoors in a park or memorial setting. A large group of U.S. Army personnel in dress uniforms are rendering salutes alongside civilians who have their hands over their hearts, suggesting a national anthem or flag presentation is occurring. The setting and mix of Asian and Western attendees suggests this may be a ceremony held in an East Asian country, possibly South Korea or Japan.

OSAN, Republic of Korea - U.S. Soldiers, Task Force Smith veterans, family members and guests, honor the flags of the Republic of Korea and the U.S. during the playing of the two nations’ national anthems during the 68th TF Smith Memorial Ceremony, July 6. Each year, the city of Osan commemorates the U.S. Soldiers who came to the defense of South Korea, and more specifically, Osan, to block and delay the North’s advance as reinforcements were assembled. TF Smith, comprised of a makeshift battalion of the Japan-based U.S. Army 24th Infantry Division, was sent to South Korea to delay the advance of North Korean forces. Inexperienced, understrength and ill-equipped, TF Smith sustained 60 killed, 21 wounded, and 82 captured, during its battle against North Korean forces. (Photo by Staff Sgt.
