Portions of a highway along the North Carolina coast were washed out by Hurricane Irene. The aerial photo was taken during FEMA's initial damage assessment flown by a UH-60 Black Hawk flown by the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade from Fort Stewart, Ga.
The aviation unit is conducting defense support of civil authorities in response to Hurricane Irene in coordination with U.S. Army North and U.S. Northern Command.
