Michael Byrne, FEMA federal coordinating officer, looks for damage caused by Hurricane Irene over the North Carolina coastline. The initial damage assessment was flown aboard a UH-60 Black Hawk flown by the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade out of Fort Stewart, Ga. The aviation unit is conducting defense support of civil authorities in response to Hurricane Irene in coordination with U.S. Army North and U.S. Northern Command.
