    PACIFIC OCEAN (March 9, 2018) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class Mary Schuman signals to aircraft that they are clear for takeoff on the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex is training with the other ships of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) in the Navy’s first ARG SWATT. SWATT is led by Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), and is designed to increase warfighting proficiency, lethality, and interoperability of participating units.
