The Missouri National Guard assisted Atchison County authorities with personnel and a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to repair levee L550 near Phelps City as the fight against the flood continues. The Black Hawk was used to move over 145 sandbags weighing two thousand pounds each onto areas of the levee damaged by overtopping in recent days. The levee is being repaired with the expectation that it will prevent a full breach which would cause more severe flooding and would close state highway 136 located nearby. In this photo, a Black Hawk helicopter, flown by pilots Capt. Adam Freeman, C Company, 1/106th Avn. Rgmt. and Chief Warrant Officer Four Pat Muenks, 1107th Aviation Group, approaches the sandbag load crew of Sgt. Arron Keesler, crew chief, C Company, 1/106th Avn. Rgmt., Sgt. Joshua Graham, A Battery, 1/129th Field Artillery and Spc. Shane Anderson, HHB, 1/129th Field Artillery to pick up more sandbags.
