KADENA AIR BASE, OKINAWA, Japan –Lance Cpl. Matthew Yaw commands Military Working Dog Bbutler to examine a fence during narcotic detection training Feb. 13 on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Narcotic detection training utilizes five different narcotic training aides including heroin, marijuana and cocaine. Narcotic training ensures that Bbutler is familiar with the training aides scent. Yaw is a military police officer and a dog handler with Headquarters and Support Battalion, MCIPAC- Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Japan. Bbutler’s unique name came from Lackland Air Force Base’s signature doubling of the first letter of the MWD’s name. (U.S Marine photo by Lance Corporal Tayler P. Schwamb)
