    36th Wing

Tech. Sgt. Napoleon Ortiz, a loadmaster with the 36th Airlift Squadron, watches from the ramp of a C-130J Super Hercules as an airdropped package descents to a remote Pacific island during Operation Christmas Drop Dec. 11, 2017. Christmas drop allows aviators with the 36th Airlift Wing to execute professional airlift through dynamic delivery airdrop to unsurveyed drop zones -- world-class airlift training that cannot be obtained virtually anywhere else in the world. Coast Humanitarian Air Drop (CHAD) takes the low-cost, low-altitude capability to the Pacific theatre. Together, CHAD and LCLA represent a unique Humanitarian Aid/Disaster Relief or wartime capability that enables these crews to respond rapidly anywhere in the area of responsibility.
