Col. Robert Spano, fourth from right, chief of staff of the California National Guard, joins members of the 49th Military Police Brigade’s Task Force 49 at the Sonoma Developmental Center in Sonoma, California, as Cal Guardsmen complete their final effort to assist the facility’s recovery from the Northern California wildfires. Soldiers moved tons of furniture, beds, computer equipment and other necessities – along with cleaning the facility – as residents were cleared to return to the SDC that was nearly destroyed by the fire. Joining Spano are Col. Robert Paoletti (standing, center), commander of the 49th, and Lt. Col. Eric Sharyer (standing, left), commander, 185th Military Police Battalion. Soldiers from the Headquarters, 340th Brigade Sustainment Battalion, took the lead in assisting the center’s recovery. (Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. Eddie Siguenza)
