Tom Rowden, Commander Naval Surface Forces, addresses the crew of the forward-deployed Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG 52) during an all hands call on the forecastle. Rowden is visiting Fleet Activities Yokosuka, where most of the forward-deployed 7th Fleet ships are stationed, to better understand forward-deployed readiness challenges and to discuss the new command Naval Surface Group Western Pacific.
