TULLY GORGE, Australia – Lance Cpl. Hoi Kit Chan, a soldier with the Australian Army, takes a breath before going through rapids while rehearsing safe river exits during a white water rafting expedition conducted as part of Exercise Kowari 2017 Aug. 27, 2017. U.S. Marines and soldiers, along with soldiers from the Australian Army and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army worked together in teams to navigate the adverse waters, which built confidence and camaraderie between the participants. Kowari is an annual adventure training activity held in Australia to reinforce trilateral military relationships, trust and co-operation between Australia, China and the United States.
