A carrier-based jet aircraft, consistent with an F/A-18 Hornet or Super Hornet, is captured at the moment of catapult launch from an aircraft carrier flight deck. The aircraft is in a steep nose-up attitude just above the deck edge, with visible vapor condensation trails streaming from the wingtips due to the high-pressure differential during launch. The ocean horizon is visible in the background, confirming an open-sea operational environment.

Theodore Roosevelt is underway conducting a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests a carrier strike group’s mission-readiness and ability to perform as an integrated unit through simulated real-world scenarios.
