A Louisiana Army National Guard helicopter belonging to the 812 Medical Company, 2/244th Aviation Battalion performs a hoist rescue exercise during state of Louisiana's Disaster Response Exercise, April 1, 2016. The Louisiana National Guard's ability to respond quickly to emergency situations is essential to saving lives and protecting property. By conducting simulate air, water and ground search and rescue operations, the LANG is ensuring that its Soldiers and Airmen are prepared to move and execute when disaster strikes. This Disaster Response Exercise also allows us to further refine our coordination efforts with local, state and federal agencies. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by 1st Sgt. Paul Meeker)
