AT SEA (September 12, 2016) – Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, ride in rigid-hulled rubber boats en route to a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure mission executed off the coast of San Clemente Island, Calif., as part of the 11th MEU’s Certification Exercise, Sept. 12, 2016. In a VBSS mission, the Marines’ priority is to board the vessel, clear out the enemy threat, search the ship for weapons and high-value individuals, and finally, turn the vessel over to host-nation security forces.
