USS SOMERSET, At Sea (Jan. 13, 2017) – U.S. Marine Cpl. Ryan Thompson, a reconnaissance Marine with the Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, fires a failure-to-stop drill while moving toward the target with his M45A1 pistol on the flight deck of the USS Somerset (LPD 25) at sea, Jan. 13, 2017. Running firing ranges aboard ship or “deck shoots,” allow the Marines with the MRF to maintain proficiency with their weapon systems while at sea during their deployment.
