USS SOMERSET, At Sea (Jan. 13, 2017) – U.S. Marine Cpl. Ryan Thompson, a reconnaissance Marine with the Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, looks behind him as he searches and assess after shooting a controlled pair with his M4-A1 rifle on the flight deck of the USS Somerset (LPD 25) at sea, Jan. 13, 2017. Reconnaissance Marines work on shooting drills to maintain their proficiency on the weapon systems they carry into combat.
