A U.S. Marine in desert MARPAT camouflage kneels on one knee before a battlefield cross memorial, which consists of a rifle bayoneted into a wooden platform with combat boots and a helmet placed on top. A photograph of the fallen service member is affixed to the front of the wooden pedestal. The setting appears to be a forward operating base in an arid desert environment.
