    PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 8, 2016) A Marine with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, performs a lock-out maneuver on a fast-rope during helicopter rope suspension technique (HRST) training conducted aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD 8), while afloat in the Pacific Ocean. The lock-out maneuver is a technique used to suspend the Marine’s motion down the rope in the event the aircraft has to execute evasive maneuvers. The 11th MEU, part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility in support security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
