PACIFIC OCEAN (August 18, 2016) – Staff Sgt. Michael Felton (left), from Oak Grove, Va., and Sgt. Josh Gerde, from Cincinnati, Ohio, secure the rear rotor on a CH-53E Super Stallion assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 during a bearing inspection on the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island is conducting integrated training with Amphibious Squadron Five and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
