Maj. Gen. Luiz Guilherme Paul Cruz, force commander, MINUSTAH, briefs a Capstone class May 19 on the history of MINUSTAH forces in Haiti and the relief efforts that occurred following the Jan. 12 earthquake. Capstone is a joint service military education six week course at Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington, for newly promoted brigadier generals and rear admirals, as well as civilian workers with the Department of Defense. The course sets aside two weeks of travel throughout military areas of operation. The 18-member group was traveling throughout Latin America when they stopped in Haiti. The party was able to visit the U.S. Embassy, tour JTF-Haiti headquarters, take an aerial tour of Port-au-Prince and tour throughout downtown Port-au-Prince with a MINUSTAH escort. The group continued their travels to the Dominican Republic the following day.
