160807-N-WF272-008 EAST CHINA SEA (Aug. 7, 2016) Sailors assigned to amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) inspect aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) system distribution nozzles on the ship's flight deck. AFFF is a mixture of water and highly concentrated detergent used on the flight deck and hangar bay to smother fires. Bonhomme Richard is the flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group, forward-deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
