Jeffrey Meek, a Wilmette, Ill., native and platoon leader with the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, holds the advanced combat helmet that was struck by an enemy round saving his life Nov. 13 at Fort Hood, Texas.
