Col. Dean Hoffman, project manager of Soldier Protection and Individual Equipment at the Program Executive Office Soldier, presents 1st Lt. Jeffrey Meek, a Wilmette, Illinois native and platoon leader with the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division with the advanced combat helmet that saved his life earlier in his career, Nov. 13 at Fort Hood, Texas.
