An Okinawa resident swings a pole with firecrackers during the Naha Giant Tug-of-War Festival Oct. 11 in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. The resounding noise of the firecrackers accentuated the different demonstrations of Karate and flag dances. The purpose of the festival is to promote understanding and preserve the culture of Okinawa.
