Mary Schlesinger, a mother of a Marine, crafts a blanket during the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society's monthly knitting and crocheting circle, Sept. 22, 2015, at the society's Kaneohe Bay branch. Schlesinger, of Lake Charles, La., is one of several volunteers who crochet or knit layette items the society gives to families for free during their "Budget for Baby" classes. The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society supports Marines, Sailors and their families with financial aid and free classes. The society as well as other civilian organizations located at Marine Corps Base Hawaii share the mission to provide facilities, programs and services in direct support of units, individuals and families in order to enhance and sustain combat readiness for all operating forces and tenant organizations aboard the installation.
