Cpl. Sun M. Bae, a security guard with the Provost Marshal’s Office aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan, poses as a suspicious person Aug. 14 during bilateral force protection training between service members and the Okinawa Police Station. Marines conduct force protection training aboard installations worldwide to ensure proficiency in maintaining on-base security as well as communicating with outer entities. During the training event, Bae attempted to enter the base after PMO Marines received a “be on the lookout” alert with his description. Japanese security guards assigned to Camp Foster held him at the gate and practiced search and seizure procedures with PMO Marines, who rehearsed notification and turnover procedures with the Okinawa Police Station.
