Arturo Mata, Headquarters and Support Company, 834th Aviation Support Battalion, a wheeled vehicle mechanic from Coon Rapids, Minn., receives an Army Commendation Medal at an award ceremony on Joint Base Balad, Iraq, on April 28. Awards were given by Capt. Daniel Dobler, commander of Headquarters and Support Company, 834th Aviation Support Bn., and 1st Sgt. Craig Heggerston, Headquarters and Support Company, 834th Aviation Support Bn. The Army Commendation Medal is awarded to Soldiers who distinguish themselves by an act of heroism, extraordinary achievement, or meritorious service which has been of mutual benefit to a friendly nation and the United States.
