U. S. Army Capt. Adam J. Swedenburg spends time with an orphan after assisting French Nuns in feeding the more than 60 babies and toddlers cared for at the facility in Djibouti City, on March 27. Capt. Swedenburg assigned to Combined Joint Task Force - HOA is among numerous Service members from Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, who donate their time visiting the facility weekly to help feed the children and play with them. The service members of CJTF-HOA, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk to prevail against extremists exploiting instability.
