Hammond traveled overseas to show support for the U.S. military in the Middle East with four other former major baseball players: Turk Wendell, Jimmy Anderson, Steve Karsay and Dan Wilson. "It's great to meet celebrities while deployed," said Self. "Some Soldiers need the moral boost. It's good to know they care enough to take the time to come see us."
